Awards and Recognition
Every day at Toronto Rehab, we are impressed by the capacity of the human spirit to give, to support people, and to respect their struggles. Our dedicated and compassionate volunteers embody this every time they step into one of our centres.
At Toronto Rehab, we believe in recognizing our volunteers for their efforts and commitment. While our staff and patients regularly express their gratitude for the support provided by our volunteer team members, we also formally recognize our volunteers, and those who support them, through the following programs.
Above and Beyond Oscars
Volunteer Resources has introduced the “Above and Beyond Oscars” because we became increasingly aware that we needed to acknowledge the contribution of those individuals that have taken great strides to assist our program service goals. We identified these volunteers as those that have done something special for our patients and/or our programs that required significant extra effort on their part.

The Charlie Deacon Award

In recognition of Charlie Deacon's dedication, this award has been created to recognize a volunteer who demonstrates the qualities that Charlie exemplified throughout his volunteer tenure.
The successful recipient would possess loyalty, a positive outlook and dedication not only to the patients but to the overall success of the program and the mission, vision and core values of Toronto Rehab. Only E.W. Bickle Centre for Complex Continuing Care Entertainment/Bingo Program volunteers are eligible for nomination. The successful recipient is selected via committee which is led by the E.W.
