Anita Kaiser always wanted to go into the field of rehabilitation. She just didn’t expect to take the route she did.
Nine years ago, Anita had just graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor's degree in applied chemistry and biology. At 24, she was thinking of taking a year off, then returning to school to train as a physiotherapist or chiropractor.
She hadn't counted on a car crash. It started with a burst tire on a clear September afternoon in Ontario cottage country while driving home with her twin sister. The crash left Anita in a wheelchair, paralyzed from the chest down.

About the Activity Research Team
The Activity Research Team focuses on the physical abilities people need to be able to care for themselves and to participate in society. Initial areas of emphasis are on restoring upper and lower limb function following stroke and spinal cord injury, and on treating people with swallowing disorders.
