Real need. Real science. Real solutions.
The miracles of medicine are most often found through groundbreaking research. The same holds true for rehabilitation – the science of helping people overcome the challenges of disability, injury or age to live fulfilling, independent and healthy lives.
Today, about 3.6 million Canadians live with a disability – a number that will rise to an estimated 4.1 million by 2011. The reality is that disability affects most families at some point in their lives. With an aging and growing population, medical advances that are saving and prolonging lives, and a rise in chronic health conditions, the demand for rehabilitation services will only intensify. So, too, will the need for new and more effective treatments and assistive technologies.
At Toronto Rehab, we are advancing both rehabilitation knowledge and practice through research. Our goal is to help people who have suffered life-altering illness and injury regain the skills they need to return to their communities - and to get on with their lives.
