Advancing rehabilitation. Enhancing quality of life.

Research at Toronto Rehab

Research is an investment in promise, potential and hope. At Toronto Rehab, we are advancing both rehabilitation knowledge and practice through research.

Our goal is to help people who have suffered life-altering illness and injury regain the skills they need to return to their communities - and to get on with their lives. A fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto, Toronto Rehab is a leader in the field of rehabilitation science.

Working in partnership with Ontario's other academic rehabilitation centres and with support from the province, Toronto Rehab is leading the development of an exciting provincial rehabilitation research program that will benefit people across Ontario and beyond.

Toronto Rehab researchers are conducting high-quality research in core program areas, including studies to: prevent falls among older people; test balance for people with head injuries; and develop technology to "teach" damaged muscles to work again.

Training initiatives and best practice research (to determine whether patient care programs are yielding the best possible results) are also key elements of our program.
