The mandate of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Research Ethics Board (REB) is to ensure that all research involving human subjects conducted under the auspices of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute meets the highest ethical standards. Written ethical approval must be received from the REB before research can commence.

The review of research by the REB is conducted in accordance with the principles and guidelines outlined in the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans.

The membership of the REB includes representation from bioethics, rehabilitation clinicians, researchers, the legal community, and the lay public.
