At Toronto Rehab, we do everything we can to prevent patients from getting infections during their stay with us. And you can help. Research shows that regular and proper hand washing is the single most effective thing each of us can do to prevent the spread of infection. This, combined with regular and thorough cleaning, greatly reduces the risk of infection and improves overall patient safety.
You can be assured that when you come to Toronto Rehab, you’re receiving care in a safe environment. We have rigorous infection control practices in place to help prevent the onset of infections and to quickly identify, treat and manage infections when they do occur.
Infections commonly seen in health care settings include Clostridium difficile (C. difficile), Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci (VRE) and Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). Our goal is to minimize the existence of these infections in our hospital which is why we closely monitor patients upon admission and throughout their stay.
To help you better understand what these hospital-acquired infections are, and what we do at Toronto Rehab to minimize patient exposure to them, we are pleased to share with you information on the most common of these infections. We strongly support the provincial government’s initiative to publicly report patient safety indicators like this. The standardized tracking, trending and sharing of this information by Ontario hospitals will help us all do a better job of preventing and managing infections, making our hospitals even safer.
