The Neuro Program has divided its Brain Injury Services into cognitive and physical streams. Patients are admitted to one stream or the other depending on whether they require therapy focused primarily, but not exclusively, on physical recovery or mental recovery.

Neuro Cognitive Service
Patients in the Neuro Cognitive Service have experienced severe injury to the brain as a result of trauma or disease and require therapy to focus on their cognitive abilities. Patients learn techniques to help them: pay attention; remember and learn new things;
be aware of the changes in themselves; understand others and be able to express themselves; and focus on starting and completing activities.

Neuro Physical Service
Patients in the Neuro Physical Service usually have acquired neurological disorders as a result of trauma, aneurysms or tumours. Patients in this stream have very complex medical and nursing care needs. Rehabilitation focuses on physical functions such as building strength and endurance, regaining balance, performing daily living activities, and speaking and swallowing.

Many patients in both streams, continue their therapy on an outpatient basis either at Toronto Rehab's University Centre or Rumsey Centre. Outpatient services at Rumsey Centre provide group therapy for patients in both streams who require help coping with chronic pain, including fibromyalgia. Services also include care, treatment and education for adults with multiple sclerosis.
