Canadians, in record numbers, are caring for elderly family members and friends at home. Much of this help is provided by spouses, adult children, friends and extended family, as well as by health and social services in the community.

Many seniors in our program are admitted after a stay in an acute care hospital, in response to a medical emergency, or because they are experiencing progressive problems at home that interfere with their ability to live independently and safely.

Toronto Rehab's geriatric rehabilitation program has been supporting seniors' independence since 1985. We do this by providing a wide range of specialized inpatient, outpatient and community-based care to Toronto seniors who need help to cope with the complications of age. Our program provide rehabilitation to seniors:

suffering the effects of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias
who need rehab after surgery, accident or illness
coping with kidney failure and other complicated medical issues
who need help to allow them to continue to manage at home

Many patients are determined to return as closely as possible to the lives they led prior to admission.
