Welcome

Patients receive tracheostomies for a wide variety of reasons. For those who continue with tracheostomy beyond acute care, it is essential that there is consistency in services as they move into and through the rehabilitation setting. A dialogue is needed to build a consensus regarding best practices amongst the multitude of rehab professionals involved in the care of patients with tracheostomy.

And now a new conference offers a breath of fresh air!

Toronto Rehab is pleased to host a one-day conference on the current trends and best practices in the care and rehabilitation of tracheostomy patients called, Breathing Life into Practice: Interprofessional Rehabilitation of Patients with Tracheostomy on November 10, 2006 in Toronto.

This one-day event aims to bring together multiple rehabilitation professionals to share their expertise and experiences as well as discuss the top clinical models for tracheostomy care of various patient populations. Delegates will take away a greater understanding of the continued care of the tracheostomy client and their transition from acute care through rehabilitation to discharge and beyond.

Attendees will learn from a variety of speakers and a panel of frontline professionals on topics ranging from wound care to speech and swallowing. Physicians, clinicians, speech-language pathologists, respiratory therapists and nurses working with patients with tracheostomy in different health care settings won’t want to miss this event!
