Toronto Rehab is pleased to host the 7th Annual Stroke Symposium on December 1, the premier conference on stroke rehabilitation. Destination, Restoration: New Routes to Client Skill and Goal Attainment, is a one-day conference aiming to equip delegates with the latest knowledge and skills to address today’s challenges and future issues in the rehabilitation of people who have suffered a stroke.

Physicians, OTs, PTs, and other clinicians, speech-language pathologists, nurses and students working in stroke rehab will find out about the latest research and learn the best practices on a variety of topics, including: self-awareness and goal attainment, integration of adult education principles into practice, motor imagery and mental practice, and client-centred care practices. A special half-day pre-course will be offered for occupational therapists and other clinicians on November 30, 2006.

This seminar, given by Dr. Jennifer Fleming of the University of Queensland in Australia, will discuss metacognitive and occupation-based interventions to enhance goal attainment in clients with neurological impairment.
