Navigating the Road to Safe Driving:
Knowing when it's Time to Hang up the Keys

On Monday, May 14, 2007, in advance of National Road Safety Week, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute hosted a free public seminar to inform older adults and their families about the myths and realities of aging and driving. Toronto Rehab experts shared their knowledge to help empower older adults to make an informed decision when it comes to the right time to hang up the keys.

Presenters:

  • Dr. Ron Keren, Geriatric Psychiatrist, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute; Clinical Director, University Health Network and Whitby Mental Health Centre’s Memory Clinic

  • Dr. Gary Naglie, Clinical Researcher, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute; Associate Professor, Department of Medicine and Mary Trimmer Chair in Geriatric Medicine, the University of Toronto

How’s your driving?
Have you lost confidence in your driving?
Do others honk, show signs of irritation or criticize your driving?
Have you ever forgotten where you are going?
Have you had any car accidents or minor fender benders in the past year?

If you answered YES to a few of the above questions or know someone who might, then be sure to dowload the resource materials!
