We all have goals in life.

But when life is interrupted either by the onset or gradual progression of chronic illness or disease, or by sudden and unexpected impact of traumatic injury, people often experience challenges that interfere with the pursuit of their goals, hopes and dreams.

At the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, we do everything humanly possible — through innovative patient care, research and education — to help make new beginnings possible for our patients and their families, empowering them to overcome disabling injury and illness and return to living life to the fullest extent possible.

The reality is most families will be affected by disability at some point in their lives, An aging and growing population, medical advances that save and prolong lives, and a rise in the prevalence of chronic disease all mean that the demand for rehabilitation services will only increase.

At the Toronto Rehab — one of Canada’s leading academic rehabilitation science centres — we’re responding to some of the most pressing health needs in our society today, and anticipating the health concerns of tomorrow.

We do this by:
  • providing the very best rehabilitation, complex continuing care and long-term care
  • Engaging in a robust and leading-edge rehabilitation research program—the fastest growing in Canada
  • Delivering innovative education to healthcare professionals, students, patients, families and the public
  • Focusing on our people, including those who provide care and those who receive it
