Toronto Rehab invites you to become a volunteer and share your valuable time and talents to help people experiencing the wide spectrum of complex, disabling injuries and illnesses. We need your help to deliver each patient an exceptional individualized health care experience.
To volunteer, you must:
• be 16 years of age or older
• be willing to commit to your placement for at least 50 hours
• contribute at two to four hours once a week
Things to keep in mind:
• Submitting an application does not guarantee you a volunteer placement at Toronto Rehab.
• The process to become a volunteer has several steps (all of which are important) and may take some time. This intake process was developed in order to best serve the patients and staff, and potential volunteers of Toronto Rehab.

The following are the steps involved in becoming a volunteer with us.
Select the Toronto Rehab location where you want to volunteer
Toronto Rehab is a multi-site organization located throughout the city of Toronto with a variety of patient care programs. We suggest you take a look at some of our current volunteer opportunities and browse through the Our Services section of the website to understand the goals and the types of rehabilitation and treatment provided at each site.
Submit an application
Click here to download our application form. You may also visit one of our locations in person to obtain and submit an application, send it by regular mail, or sumbit an application via email to Oona Iverson at Iverson.Oona@torontorehab.on.ca.
(Please note: if you are having trouble accessing the online form, please check your internet security settings. To do so in Internet Explorer, open your internet options > security settings and move the bar to "medium")
Attend an interview
Once your application is received and if a volunteer role matching your areas of interest, skills and qualifications is available, you will be contacted for an interview. Once an interview is scheduled you will be asked to provide the names and addresses of two professional references (i.e. not family or friends). Recent letters of reference (less than one year old) may be accepted.
Complete a health record form
Approved candidates for our volunteer program are expected to complete a health record form with the help of their family physician. This form will be provided during the interview. Please note: Toronto Rehab does not reimburse any fees your physician may charge for this service.
Agree to a criminal record check
For the protection of our patients, all volunteers 18 years of age and older, will be required to complete a criminal record check. This process will be explained during the interview and there is no charge to the candidate.
Attend orientation
Once we receive your completed health record form, you will be scheduled to attend a mandatory orientation that consists of a summary of Toronto Rehab, infection control, emergency procedures, confidentiality, etc.
Placement and training
Your placement and position specific training will be arranged once you have successfully completed the above steps.
