Awards and Recognition

At Toronto Rehab, we believe in sharing our successes and in recognizing our remarkable people. This includes recognizing our volunteers for their efforts and commitment.

Volunteers helping patients
Above and Beyond Awards
acknowledge the contribution of those volunteers who have gone above the call of duty to help our organization and the patients we serve.

The Charlie Deacon Award is named for a man who volunteered for over 54 years at Toronto Rehab. He developed long-standing programs and events at the E. W. Bickle Centre (Complex Continuing Care Program) that are still popular today.

In recognition of Charlie’s dedication, this award recognizes a volunteer at Bickle Centre who demonstrates the qualities that Charlie exemplified throughout his volunteer tenure – loyalty, positivity, and dedication to patients and the overall success of Toronto Rehab.

Service Awards
are presented to volunteers who have donated 5, 10, 15, 20 etc. years of service (in five year increments). Certificates are presented to volunteers with less than 5 years. In addition, volunteers who have contributed significantly to our programs and services, and who are retiring from their volunteer position are often named Honorary Members of the Toronto Rehab volunteer program.

We also acknowledge and celebrate the important work of volunteers through National Volunteer Week

Toronto Rehab celebrates National Volunteer Week which falls annually on the third week of April.. All volunteers receive a small gift as a token of our appreciation for the wonderful support they provide to Toronto Rehab patients, their families and staff.
