UHN Integration

In April 2011, Toronto Rehab announced a proposed integration that would see it join with Princess Margaret, Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals as the newest member of the University Health Network (UHN) family. Joining UHN represents the next logical step in Toronto Rehab’s evolution as it realizes its full potential as an academic health sciences centre and a leader in post acute care.  On June 15, 2011, the Toronto Rehab and UHN Boards of Directors gave final approval to the integration.

By joining with its largest referring partner, Toronto Rehab will be able to realize many of the ambitious objectives outlined in its strategic plan that are aimed at:
  • improving patient care, experiences and outcomes
  • advancing Toronto Rehab’s growing rehabilitation research program and its leadership as an innovator in rehabilitation science
  • building on our expertise in interprofessional education to train the healthcare professionals of tomorrow to deliver even better care
Toronto Rehab Foundation supports this vision for a better health system for patients, families and communities. We firmly believe that this integration will strengthen the role of rehabilitation in building healthier communities through quality care, state-of-the-art research and leading education.

Our donors will continue to play a vital part in Toronto Rehab’s future. Like the foundations at the other UHN hospitals, the Toronto Rehab Foundation will remain a separate entity and will continue to support the growing prominence and importance of rehabilitation in our community.

We are excited to share with you historical news about the future of Toronto Rehab and its influence in shaping a truly integrated health system.

Yours sincerely,
