Team Excellence Awards 2010

Winners of the Team Excellence Awards 2010 were:
Milad Alizadeh-Meghrazi and Sukhvinder Kalsi-Ryan (Activity Team), Walter Swardfager (Cardiopulmonary Fitness Team), Yuko Koshimori and Sara Salehi (Cognition Team), HuiWen Goy(Communication Team), Bimal Lakhani (Mobility Team), Carol Fancott (Team Optimize), Hisham Alshaer and Sonja Molfenter (Sleep and Upper Airway Team), César Márquez Chin (Technology Team)

Poster and People’s Choice Awards
Poster Prizes were presented to Takatoshi Kasai (Postdoctoral) for the project, Differing Relationship between Nocturnal Rostral Fluid Shift and Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Men and Women with Heart Failure; Walter Swardfager (PhD) for Cognitive Performance and Adherence to Cardiac Rehabilitation in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease; and to Amy Chen (Master's) for Designing a Neurotrauma Surveillance System for Prevention: What are the Key Components, Challenges, Strengths and Weaknesses.

Kelly Spence won the People’s Choice Award for explaining the impact and significance of a research project—all in less than a minute. The presentation was entitled, Optimal AAC Device Layout for Severe Aphasia.

Jessica David received the award for Best Interactive Display for the project, Connecting Physically and Socially Isolated Individuals to Their Families.  

TD GRANT IN MEDICAL EXCELLENCE: A SCHOLARSHIP IN REHABILITATION-RELATED RESEARCH FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Recipients of scholarship renewals for 2010-2011 are: Laura Moll and Nadine Richard. The scholarship, funded by TD Bank Financial Group, helps exemplary students to become world-class scientists.

Toronto Rehab Research Day featured 89 one-minute presentations, posters and a keynote address by Dr. Philippa Clarke, Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, on the topic, Optimizing Independence in Later Life: The Role of the Urban Built Environment.
