Mechanical Workshop

Mechanical WorkshopThe Mechanical Workshop is equipped with the latest computer-controlled machine tools including an ultra-high precision five-axis mill, a live-tooling turning centre, a micron-level surface grinder, plasma and torch cutting, MIG, TIG and stick welding to create prototypes in plastic, metal, wood or composite materials. These tools are used to construct the components needed for research and for prototypes of the assistive device inventions. Manual mills and lathes allow the shop to be used as a teaching facility for research staff and students.

This lab is currently located at 180 Elm St., Toronto but will move to new facilities in Toronto Rehab’s University Centre at 550 University Ave., Toronto, in May 2010.
