What to Bring

Please bring the following items with you for your stay at Toronto Rehab:

  • Your provincial health card or your Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) number.

  • Information about any private insurance you may have.

  • A copy of any advance care directive you may have (e.g. a power of attorney, a living will, or any other information about your health care choices).

  • Contact information for other health care providers who have been involved in your care to ensure continuity.

  • All medications you are taking, including prescription, non-prescription (over the counter) and herbal medications, or a list of all medications.

  • Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that are easy to put on and appropriate for exercise (e.g. sweatshirts, sweatpants, and socks).

  • Comfortable shoes with non-slip soles (running shoes are preferred, and should have velcro straps if you have limited movement in your arms or hands).

  • Clothes to sleep in, such as night gown or pajamas, and robe.

  • Firm slippers (rubber soles and closed backs are preferred).

  • Wheelchair, walker or other mobility aids, if you use them.

  • Toiletries (e.g. a toothbrush, toothpaste, powder, soap, deodorant, shampoo, etc. – Please note we are a scent-free facility).

  • Electrical supplies such as a razor, blow dryer, radio or any other items you may need (Any electrical supplies you bring must be checked by our staff to make sure you can safely use them here. Please let us know if you have any items that require inspection).

  • Headphones or personal speakers for any radios or other sound equipment so that you do not disturb other patients.

  • Eye glasses, hearing aids and/or dentures, if you use them.

  • Small personal items (e.g. plants, framed photographs, etc.) (optional).

  • Earplugs (optional).

  • A lock for your locker or drawer (optional).

Your care team will tell you if you need anything else. For example, you may need shorts or swimwear for certain types of therapy.

All of your belongings need to fit into your locker and/or bedside drawers. We reserve the right to limit the amount and type of personal items you bring.

Your items are your responsibility. We cannot take responsibility for anything that is lost or stolen.

Everything you bring to the hospital should be labeled with your name. Please take your items with you when you leave.

Please do not bring:

  •  large amounts of money

  •  valuable items, including jewelry

  •  televisions, VCRs,  DVD players or laptop computers

  •  alcohol or illegal drugs

  •  objects that can cause injury (e.g. penknives)

  •  flammable substances (e.g. matches, lighters)
