Your privacy in hospital

If someone phones the hospital to ask about you, the main operator will tell them whether you are a patient and where you are in the hospital. The operator will not give any other information, such as why you are in hospital, or how you are doing.

If you do not want people to know you are in the hospital, tell your care team. If you are a “Privacy-Flagged” patient, only health care staff and people you choose will have access to information about you. If you choose to be a “Privacy-Flagged” patient, we will not be able to deliver mail or flowers or forward calls to you.

You can talk to your care team for more information about privacy.
