Emergencies and fire safety

In the event of an emergency at Toronto Rehab, use your call bell or call switchboard by dialing 0 and state the nature of the emergency and your location so that help can be sent to you quickly.

We take every precaution to protect against fires. All of our staff are trained to follow fire procedures. We test the fire alarms often. Fire exits are clearly marked throughout each site.

If you hear the fire alarm, please stay calm and follow instructions from staff.

If you find a fire:

• remain calm

• call for help immediately and/or set off the nearest fire alarm

• if possible, move away from the area of the fire and close any doors behind you
   
• follow staff’s instructions

Do not use the elevator during a fire alarm. During a fire alarm, elevators return automatically to the main floor so travel between floors is only possible by the stairs. Staff members will help patients with evacuation by the stairs if necessary.
