Interpreter Services

Interpreter services

Interpreters are available to help with communication between staff and patients whose primary language is not English or who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing.

You can ask a member of your care team to book an interpreter if you or your family members need one. Interpreters can be booked in advance for situations such as:

  • initial assessments

  • goal setting meetings

  • discharge planning

  • meetings to discuss substitute decision-making, advanced directives, informed consent and release of information

For the situations listed above, Toronto Rehab does not permit the use of untrained interpreters. Family members or friends are not able to act as interpreters in these situations.

Some patient information (e.g., brochures) has been translated into a variety of languages. Please ask your care team about translated copies of important documents.
