A Leader in Wound Care
Pressure ulcers (bed sores) are a significant problem for people who are immobile for long periods of time due to illness or injury.
Pressure ulcers are painful and difficult to heal. Serious infection can result.
Many of the patients we care for at Toronto Rehab have limited mobility or paralysis. However, our incidence of pressure ulcers remains extremely low. In fact, our incidence rate is well below the provincial average for health care facilities.
Interprofessional Care Supports Best Practices in Wound Care
At Toronto Rehab, we focus on prevention and best practices in wound care. Staff education and our interprofessional model of care ensure that these best practices are integrated into the care provided by all our team members.
Toronto Rehab is also becoming a resource on wound care to the broader health care community. Patients are referred to us for wound treatment and management from acute care facilities across Toronto. We also serve as an educational resource to students and health care professionals across the region.
