2012 Alzheimer Symposium: A Pallative Approach to Dementia Care

This is a must-attend event for all health care professionals and students working in the geriatric field including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, social workers, program service managers, physicians and others.

Participate in this one-day forum that will explore a palliative care approach to dementia in order to optimize the quality of life throughout the journey of those living with Alzheimer’s Disease. The workshops sessions, which will be repeated twice during the day, will include topics such as relational care at the end of life, engaging patients in day to day life, communicating with families and management of dysphagia for patients with advanced dementia. If you prefer to experience first-hand how the various senses are impacted by aging and dementia, you will be able to participate in our aging simulation. Spaces will be limited for this session, so be sure to register early!

Finally, an interactive panel discussion will complete the program in which participants will appreciate the ethical and faith-based perspectives of end of life decisions for individuals with dementia and their families.
