Our Clinical Programs
An opportunity to broaden your experience
Toronto Rehab offers the opportunity to experience the full range of rehabilitation practice through specialized inpatient, outpatient and residential programs serving a broad range of patient populations:
Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention
Our cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention program is North America’s largest and most comprehensive outpatient cardiac rehab programs. Our program specializes in treating people with, or at risk of, heart disease, diabetes or stroke or who have had cardiac surgery, including transplantation.
Complex Continuing Care
Our complex continuing care program provides complex medical services for people with chronic and often fluctuating physical conditions such as complex chronic illness, end-stage kidney failure, multi-system decline, diabetes and/or advanced degenerative disorders such as multiple sclerosis. Our services include general complex continuing care, palliative care, special care, respite care, dialysis and a variety of specialty clinics.
Geriatric Rehabilitation
Toronto Rehab’s geriatric rehabilitation program provides a continuum of care to enhance independence and quality of life for older adults with complex medical, cognitive or psychosocial needs. Together with the University Health Network, we provide a hemodialysis unit—the first of its kind in Ontario—for patients in the program who require both rehabilitation and dialysis.
Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation (MSK)
Our MSK rehabilitation program provides specialized rehabilitation to adults who have complex rehabilitation needs arising from multiple trauma, oncology or complex musculoskeletal impairments. We help people increase their mobility and independence following joint replacement surgery, multiple fractures, cancer and other MSK-related diagnoses.
Neuro Rehabilitation
Our neuro rehabilitation program provides specialized rehabilitation for adults with cognitive and physical impairments resulting from an acquired brain injury (ABI), stroke or other neurological conditions. Toronto Rehab is a leader in stroke rehabilitation and, in 2010, was given an Award of Distinction by Accreditation Canada, one of only two programs in the country to earn this honour.
Spinal Cord Rehabilitation
Toronto Rehab's spinal cord rehabilitation program is the largest rehabilitation program in Canada for people with spinal cord injuries and related non-traumatic neurological conditions. The program provides a full range of inpatient, outpatient and follow-up care, including a large number of specialized services and clinics.
Long Term Care
Lakeside Long-Term Care Centre provides care for individuals who are no longer able to live independently and require 24-hour care. Extendicare (Canada) Inc. manages Toronto Rehab’s long-term care program under contract and employs all staff.
