Continuing Education Support
Enhance your skills and education
At Toronto Rehab, we foster a culture of knowledge and lifelong learning.
We’ll help you continue to develop and grow professionally through:
· Tuition support – Our Tuition Assistance Fund provides up to $3000 a year to individuals pursuing degrees, diplomas or certificates related to their jobs to enhance their knowledge and skills.
· Continuous professional development – Regular workshops and in-services allow our interprofessional teams and each profession to build competencies, enhance clinical skills and learn about new and evolving best practices to apply them to patient care.
· Conferences and Workshops – Attendance at conferences and workshops provides you with further opportunities to stay at the leading edge of practice. Events hosted by Toronto Rehab offer the opportunity to present and share your knowledge with others across the country.
· Workplace skill development – Workshops and seminars help you to develop the skills and knowledge to further your career and reach your potential.
· Mentoring and support – Leaders in your clinical program and discipline provide mentoring, problem-solving and support.
· E-learning and library learning centres – Online educational modules support staff orientation and provide an easy way for you to access on-the-job learning. Learning centres at each site provide access to electronic and print journals and other resources to support staff in their learning and research.
* Celebrating excellence – Our annual awards in education excellence celebrate the contributions of staff to student and patient/family education.
You’ll expand your skills by:
· Supervising and teaching students – Close to 1000 students complete some aspect of their clinical training at Toronto Rehab each year, providing you with the opportunity to enrich your own practice through supervision and teaching. Toronto Rehab is a recognized leader in interprofessional education and a founding partner of the Centre for Interprofessional Education with the University of Toronto.
· Providing patient and family education – Programs and resources are available to help you become more effective in teaching new skills and self-management to patients and families.
* Participating in research – You’ll work side by side our leading researchers and have the opportunity to participate in research, develop best practices and new approaches to care, and integrate the discoveries into the care you provide to patients.
