Looking Forward

University Centre

When complete, in 2012, Toronto Rehabilitation’s University Centre will be better designed and equipped to help people regain their abilities, manage their pain,  increase their strength and maximize their independence.

The redevelopment will include:
  • Patient Care: A new 13-storey wing added to the southwest corner of the existing building will allow for increased outpatient capacity, more spacious and private inpatient rooms, on-unit therapy spaces and facilities that are more conducive to rehabilitation and recovery

  • Research: New research laboratories and testing facilities to accommodate teams of scientists recruited from across Canada and internationally. This will result in additional space dedicated to Toronto Rehab's growing research program

  • Education: Dedicated education space to accommodate the increasing number of students who come to Toronto Rehab to complete their clinical training in a variety of healthcare disciplines; and the ongoing professional development and education provided for practitioners from across the country

“The [research] laboratories that we are opening are unequalled anywhere. We are rapidly becoming the largest rehabilitation research group anywhere in the world.”

Dr. Geoff Fernie, Vice President, Research
