Toronto Rehab—Revolutionizing Rehabilitation

One in two Ontarians will be touched by disability—either personally or in their immediate family.

It’s a staggering statistic. And, at Toronto Rehab, it drives our efforts to find new and better solutions for people who are living with disabling illness, injury and aging. We believe it’s time to revolutionize rehabilitation.

A leader in rehabilitation science

  • Generating new knowledge: Our leading-edge research program, the second largest in North America, brings researchers and clinicians together to develop innovative models of care and new technologies and put them into practice.

  • Educating tomorrow’s rehabilitation health professionals:  A fully affiliated research and teaching hospital with the University of Toronto, we use innovative models such as Interprofessional Education to enhance education for students from all disciplines.

Our Vision

Revolutionizing rehabilitation — maximizing life!

Our Mission

We develop solutions for people living with the consequences of illness, injury and aging through excellence, innovation and the integration of discovery and care.

A commitment to quality and safety

At Toronto Rehab, we are committed to delivering superior outcomes to our patients and families.

We measure ourselves against other healthcare providers and provincial and national benchmarks on everything from patient outcomes— to patient satisfaction— to the effectiveness of our research program. Where no benchmarks exist, we create them.

Keeping patients safe during their hospital stay is a top priority. Our falls prevention strategy has been recognized nationally as a leading practice and we are committed to best practices in important areas such as hand hygiene and infection control.

We also help patients transition back to living as independently and safely as possible at home and in the community.

A commitment to accountability

We believe in accountability. We encourage patients, families and the public to assess our performance against benchmarks on the performance reporting  section of our website.

We also participate in a rigorous national accreditation program for healthcare organizations.  In 2010, Toronto Rehab was awarded a four-year accreditation, the highest possible level and one awarded to only 10 per cent of Canadian hospitals.

Meeting future demand

The demand for rehabilitation continues to grow.

To meet that need, Toronto Rehab has embarked on an ambitious redevelopment of our six locations to expand and enhance space for inpatient and outpatient care and to develop a state-of-the art research facility.

We have also set out a comprehensive plan of action in our new strategic plan.

Our vision for the future is bold—to revolutionize rehabilitation to maximize life.

Please join us as we make our vision a reality.
